Blog Post #7: Airbnb - Diffusion Theory

As Airbnb disrupts the hotel industry it increases D.C. lobbying - IPWatchdog.com | Patents & Intellectual Property Law

Through the lens of the of the diffusion theory there is one tech company that is worth discussing and learning more about and that is Airbnb. A trust worthy app that is a tech distributor, connecting consumers in need of a  comfortable lodging environment to a place with accommodations.

The known name for Airbnb stands for  AirBed&Breakfast, founded by Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia. The company's first idea came into effect in 2007, with a year of perfecting the website it launched in 2008 becoming a major eye catcher in 2009. It takes some companies more than a half a decade to become successful but for Airbnb the founders had the right idea and worded very hard quickly to make the website known and successful. Airbnb is an app and website that you can find listings on and property owners can rent out their property to travelers.

Spreading at a rapid pace because you can find lodging that is unique and personable. In 2008 there was a Democratic National Convention in Denver with over 20,000 attendees, 600 people knew about what was then called AirBed&Breakfast and chose that as their form of lodging. Late adaptors started to use this company because it raised funding from Y Combinator, A company that helps start ups take their business to the next level.

The negative consequences of paying for an Airbnb is lodging can can get a little pricey. Also their is no hotel service, you have to pay in advance and the actual listing to some consumers can feel like a risky option. More consumers that are major travelers have become more comfortable with choosing Airbnb because making a review after your stay is strongly encouraged within the app and has helped more people become frequent users. The fees are what make the final payment more expensive, which include cleaning, occupancy, service and taxes. but within the app you can communicate with the host to negotiate pricing and special offers.

Thankfully Airbnb is still remaining popular as the years go on because the majority of travelers want an at home feel when lodging away from home. Any accommodations that you can dream of having while traveling, you can count on Airbnb to make your vacation even more relaxing.

Blog Post #3: The Supreme Court

What did you learn about the Supreme Court that you didn't already know? One thing that I learned from the Supreme Court Video is that every week the Judicial workers receives over 100 new cases, which comes out to approximately 7,000 a year. Most of them are written arguments to persuade that the lower court ruling was incorrect. That is completely mind blowing to me because I personally feel th at a lot of people are still in situations where they didn’t get a fair chance in court. With this type of number being received weekly and only about 100 of them a year for full consideration. It makes sense why cases overall to this day are so backed up, also due to the fact that even as a team of Justices they do different things.  What is the most important take-away point about the Supreme Court and the most surprising thing you learned? The most important take-away point about the Supreme Court for me was that the most of interest cases are going to always come first. Especially ones...
